What's New for QuickBooks 2012

Intro: There is some great new stuff
across the board (sorry we don't address the Mac or
online versions). Some changes are small but
key. Others seem like bigger enhancements, but
still need a bit more polish.
I have ranked these based on how much value i think
they will add using a 5 star rating system - where 1
is not so cool and 5 is very cool - your rankings
will surely vary.
Check back for updated information as we work
more closely with these features.
Pro and Above:
Refreshable Excel Spreadsheets ***
Retains formatting to pull in
only updated information from reports

Lead
Center ***
The beginnings of
CRM – just the beginnings, but this could be huge.
Track multiple contacts and locations, keep notes
and create To Do's - convert to a customer.
Can't wait to see how this evolves over the next few
years!

Calendar with To Dos **
- view at a glance what is scheduled
or happened (Bills, Invoices and more)
complete with links to transactions and more.

Improved
Condense Function **** - great
new options. Special option for
accountants needing to parse out periods
(only in the Accountant Edition)
Document
Center Improvements **** - Now
local image storage and free.
Use the Attach button
available on most any
form and list to scan or create a link - think
paperless here. Enter a bill and scan in the
invoice from your vendor. You can easily
retrieve it by just clicking the attach link to view
or print it

New
Global Search Function ** - key word
search of entire data file or Help
Here you can see the new search box on the tool bar
in QB

by typing in your
criteria the entrire DB is searched quickly to
return the easy to access and well defined
informatiion, plus you can choose eithr the xxx or
the Help functions. Here we search for the
word "Office" on the company file.

Now you can see the resulting window with the search results

Instant Credit Memo for an
Invoice *** - Flip an invoice
or Sales Receipt into Credit Memo with a single
click
Pay Bill for the Enter Bill Window ***
- With a Bill displayed, click
a button to pay it.
Batched Time Entry ***
- select multiple employees or vendors and make
one entry to populate each of their individual
time sheets
Improved Memorized Transaction
Notification **** - If you have
lots of memorized transactions you no longer get
the single message showing only one option to
enter them all or none, you get to pick and
choose
USPS Added to Shipping Manager ***
- We have had Fedex and UPS for
some time – glad to see USPS

Functionality ** - Every year it
seems we get some ability to do more without having
to switch to single user mode – improvements for
making deposits, setting the closing date and
resorting the lists

Item Find and Select *****
- If you have trouble finding
things in your item list, this alone may justify
getting enterprise. Imagine being able to key
word search your item list while in an invoice,
sales receipt or PO and add on or many items with a
few clicks.

Price Levels ****
- Previously limited to 100 – now up to
750
Enterprise with Advanced
Inventory (this is an additional annual subscription
that can be added to Enterprise). Originally
added in 2011 to allow for location tracking of
inventory, this year has two enhancements.

Serial or Lot Number
tracking **** - You can use one or
the other, but not both

FIFO Inventory Valuation
***** - This feature looks great –
seems it can be turned on and off – that is back to
average unit cost.
